Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Newborns and infants till the age of 6 months with congenital heart defect and regular heart catheterization Normal thyroid function before application of iodinated contrast medium Application of > 4 ml/kg body weight iodinated contract medium

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Thyroid dysfunction before heart catheterization Application of < 4 ml/kg body weight of iodinated contrast medium Others diseases which may influence thyroid function as gastrointestinal diseases or autoimmune diseases Medications which may influence thyroid function as amiodarone, dopamine, glucocorticoids

MeasureTime frame
Primary outcome is a thyroid dysfunction as hypothyroidism A potential thyroid dysfunction is investigated by measurement of thyroid hormones before catheterization as baseline, on days 3 - 5, 10 - 14 und 24 - 28 after catheterization.
