Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 30 subjects not being involved in performance sports, between 18 und 35 years

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: cardiopulmonary diseases, injuries of the musculosceletal system of the lower limb within six months prior to the study, 3 days prioer begin of the study no intensive exercises or competition / training

In the present study we assessed acute post-exercises alterations in hydration and fluid shift as well as hematocrit values after two frequently applied physical therapies (lymphatic drainage and local hypothermia) are capable of enhancing short-term recovery following a high intensive bout of eccentric exercise. The scientific question: What ist the influence of manual lymphatic drainage and local kryo exposition after intensive, eccentric exercises on the hydrational situation and fluid shift within tissues as well as the haematocrit? Measured parameters were analysed at baseline, directly after the exercise protocoll, 1h, 4h and 24hpost exercise via blood analysis (Sysmex KX-21, Sysmex Corporation, Kobe), measurements of osmolality via an osmomat (GONOTEC® Single-Sample Freezing Point Osmometer Gonotec GmbH OSM 3000, Berlin) as well as the resistance measured via a bioimpedance scale (Tanita bioelectrical impedance analyzer; model BC - 418, Tanita Corporation of America, Inc., Arlington Heights).
