Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: German speaking parents of children with high-functioning autism aged between 5;11 and 12;11 years

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: parents with children with low functioning autism (IQ<70)

Primary

MeasureTime frame
Mean outcome Measurements of training are the reduction of autistic symptoms in SRS (Social responsiveness Scale) and the change in life quality (ILK) between t2 (after waiting/before training) and t3 (after training).

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
Secondary outcome measures are 1)reduction in parental distress (ESF questionnaire) and 2) improvements in parenting style (EFB-K questionnaire) between t2 and t3 and at follow-up t4. Further Questionnaires and Measures (Amendment 2016): 3) Strength and Difficulties Questionnaire (Gordon, 1997) (changes in symptoms between t2 and t3 and at follow-up t4) 4) DASS- 21 (Lovibond, 1995): Depression Anxiety Stress Scales (reduction of parents' symptoms between t2 and t3 and at follow-up t4) 5) Autismus Spectrum Quotient - AQ (Baron-Cohen, 2001) (moderating variable at t1) 6) Goal Attainment Scaling (Kiresuk & Sherman, 1968) (between t2 and t3 ) 7) Family Background Questionnaire (FBQ; Sanders, Markie-Dadds, & Turner, 2001) (moderating variable at t1) 8) “Five minutes Speech Sample” (FMSS; Magana et al., 1989) (change in the amount of criticism between t2 and t3) 9) CAR- Cortisol Awaking Response (Pruessner et al., 1997), (Hellhammer et al., 2009) (reduction in parental distress between t2 and t3)
