Interventions

Group 1: Half of the patients (N=32) receives a Mechanism-based anti-aggression Psychotherapy (MAAP). All elements of MAAP are taken from complex evidence based psychotherapy programs, auch as the DBT

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: - current borderline personality disorder - aggressive behavior - place of residence in a 70 km radius around the University medical center

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: - pregnancy - current psychotherapy - change in psychotropic medication three weeks prior to study admission - current/ past epilepsy - known brain traumata, brain tumor or other significant neurological/ medical factors - current/past bipolar I disorder or schizophrenia - substance addiction during the last two years prior to study admission - current substance abuse - left handedness

Interaction effect (time of measurement x intervention): patients in the MAAP-intervention show a significant higher reduction of their aggressive behavior over two weeks post-treatment, examined with the OAS-M, compared to patients in the NSSP-intervention, who receive the same amount of therapy.	—
