Design outcomes
Primary
| Measure | Time frame |
|---|---|
| The primary endpoint (stroke or no stroke) will be determined on the basis of the reference test (MRI, clinical observation). A first outcome measure is the a-priori probability of stroke. The main goal is to develop a diagnostic index test for stroke in patients with acute vertigo, dizziness, and imbalance. Clinical and neurophysiological test results (e.g. ocular motor signs on video-oculography, video head impulse testing, posturography, SVV, TuG, clinical scores) will be combined to a diagnostic score for the risk of stroke (predictor). | — |
Secondary
| Measure | Time frame |
|---|---|
| The second outcome measure will be sensitivity and specificity, the pair of diagnostic quality of the index test. The index test will be determined based on the Receiver Operating Characteristic curve (ROC) according to the diagnostic score with specific cut-off values for sensitivity and specificity in order to develop a stroke detection test with high sensitivity and acceptable specificity. | — |
