Group 1: Tissue biopsies of human free flap tissue prior to and five days after ischemia/reperfusion injury.

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Patients undergoing reconstructive surgery procedures with free microvascular tissue transfer.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Underlying inflammatory diseases, elevated baseline values of circulating plasma CRP. Prior free flap failure.

Detection of conformational changes of C-reactive protein in human tissue samples undergoing ischemia/reperfusion

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
Detection of accumulation of cytokines and C-reactive protein in postischaemic tissue, correlating with the localized tissue inflammation.
