Group 1: The intervention is a walking programme defined as an increase in habitual PA by brisk walking to or from work of 30 to 35 minutes or by a walking activity of an identical duration throughout
helping to find alternative routes in order to increase the attractiveness of walking in various environments

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Sedentary type of occupation Not suffering from a medical condition or taking medication(s) that would prohibit one from adopting a moderate intensity physical activity

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: ankle, knee or hip surgery; ankle, knee or hip injury; low back pain

MeasureTime frame
1. An analysis of body composition (focusing on fat mass, percentage of fat mass, visceral fat area, segmental lean body mass). The parameters are measured using a multi-frequency bioelectrical impedance analysis with manufacturer’s equations to estimate body composition performed by the InBody 720 device. 2. An analysis of bone tissue, BMD (distal forearm and calcaneus). Individual parameters are monitored always on the right and left side using a peripheral densitometer EXA-3000. 3. The level of postural stability. An assessment is based on parameter the movement of the centre of pressure (COP) in a standing position with/without visual control. COP is measured on a Kistler force plate (type: 9286 AA, Kistler Instrumente, Wintherthur, Switzerland) 4. The bilateral isokinetic strength of the knee extensors is assessed using the absolute concentric peak torque and average work. These parameters are measured using the IsoMed 2000 isokinetic dynamometer. 5. To assess the level of life satisfaction, the Life Satisfaction Questionnaire (Fahrenberg, Myrtek, Schumacher, & Brahler, 2001) is used. Timepoints of measurements: baseline (immediately before the intervention is applied); output (immediately after the intervention is completed - the end of the 12th week from the baseline).
