Group 1: Nurses at the NICU, who care for premature babies (less than 1.500 g and/or born before 32. gestation week), are observed and different care activities and associated work effort is gathered.

Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: Nurses, who care for preterm babies (less than 1.500 g and/or born before 32. gestation week) on the NICU.

Exclusion criteria: None.

| Work effort is gathered via activity sampling technique over a period of 60-80 days. All activities will be observed and temporally ascertained during fixed time intervals. | — |

| Perceived workload is gathered via diary design including a written questionnaire. The questionnaire is based upon the factor "Perceived work intensity" of the FIT-questionnaire (Richter/Hemmann/Merboth/Fritz/Hansgen/Rudolf). For each day during the collection period (60-80 days), nurses will respond to the questions at the end of their shift. | — |
