Design outcomes

Primary

MeasureTime frame
Rapid Shallow Breathing Index (RSBI=Breathing rate/tidal volume); measured continously by a pneumotachograph; start with disconection of the ventilator, end when finishing or after 120 minutes

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
Respiratory Rate, tidal volume (continously via pneumotachograph), SpO2, PtcCO2, PaO2, PaCO2, pH (capillary bloodgas analysis; before start, after 30 minutes, when finishing or after 120 minutes), blood pressure (every 15 minutes), heart rate (continously via Sentec), subjective dyspnea (Borg-Dyspnoe-Scala, every 30 minutes)
