Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: - good oral hygiene - presence of adequate quantity and quality of native bone to achieve primary implant stability - presence of sufficient mesio-distal space for the placement of a regular diameter implant (4.1 mm)

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: - active periodontal disease - heavy smoking (> 10 cigarettes/day), pipe or cigar smoking

change of the marginal bone level after 5 years (X-ray)

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
- intraoperative time for the implant bed preparation - dimensions of the osseous defects after the implant placement - operator’s perception of the procedure - implant survival, complication rates, clinical soft tissue parameters after 1, 3 and 5 years
