Group 1: We will recruit inpatients and outpatients with borderline personality disorder at the Department of Psychotherapy and Psychosomatic Medicine, Central Institute of Mental Health, Mannheim. Fi

Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: - Inclusion criteria for all participants: Female, Written consent for participation. - Additional inclusion criteria for BPD patients: BPD according to DSM-5 (at least 5 criteria met). - Additional inclusion criteria for patients with SAD: Diagnosis of social anxiety disorder according to DSM-5.
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: - Exclusion criteria for all participants: Life-time diagnosis of schizophrenic or bipolar affective disorders, substance dependency within the last 6 months, organic brain disease, intake of psychotropic medication during the last 4 weeks. - Additional exclusion criteria for HC participants: Recent or life-time diagnosis of a mental disorder, more than two DSM-IV criteria for BPD met. - Additional exclusion criteria for patients with BPD: Diagnosis of social anxiety disorder according to DSM-5. - Additional exclusion criteria for patients with SAD: More than two DSM-IV criteria for BPD met.
