Group 1: Immobilization with dorsal splint (synthetic, glass fiber-free support bandage) after volar plate fixation of a distal radius fracture for two weeks Group 2: Immobilization with vacuum wrist

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: • isolated, displaced, distal radius fracture type AO 23 A2, A3, B1, B2, B3, C1,C2 • surgical therapy with volar locking plate

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: • open fracture • non-displaced fracture • blunt trauma of the soft tissues G2, G3 • associated fracture of the ulna (except Processus styloideus ulna fracture) • pathological fracture • patient unable to comply with postoperative therapy • other concomitant fractures, polytrauma • bilateral fractures
