Group 1: For nine weeks (one time per week) communication training will be given to caregiving family members of people with dementia (meeting 1 to 4 in small group setting lasting 2 hours at a time,

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: primary caregivers of people suffering from Alzheimer's disease, vascular dementia or combined form, who care demented person at home

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: caregivers, whose family member suffers from other dementia as mentioned above or other underlying illnesses; caregivers, who suffer from cognitive deficits; residential care

Design outcomes

Primary

MeasureTime frame
improvement of communication between caregiver and person with dementia will be surveyed after training by using guided interviews

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
Subjective caregiver burden will be measured before and after the training as well as three month after training by BIZA-D (Zank, Schacke, Leipold 2006).
