Group 1: Gesundbleiben Online 1 (GO1): internet- and telephone-based, guided CBT self-help intervention

Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: (a) either fulfill criteria for a major depressive disorder according to DSM-IV-TR criteria in the last six months or fulfill the criteria for a recurrent major depression with at least two previous episodes and currently in remission for no longer than 2 years (b) 18-70 years old (c) fluent in German (d) have access to internet (e) are treated in one of the study hospitals
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: (a) current substance/alcohol addiction (but not nicotine-addiction) (b) primary reason for inpatient treatment is substance/alcohol abuse or an eating disorder (c) acute psychotic symptoms (d) schizophrenia, schizoaffective, schizotypal or bipolar disorder (e) any mood disorder due to general medical conditions (f) high risk for suicide
