Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: vitrectomy with peeling of the inner limiting mambrane in patients with epiretinal membrane or macular hole. Pre- and postoperative retinal mesurements with the high resolution optical coherence tomography (OCT)

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: other indications for vitrectoma, OCT scans generated with non high resolution technique

Difference of retinal nerve fibre layer thickness (RNFL) in optic coherence tomography between preoperative mesurement and 4 months postoperative measurement—

Change in macular thickness measured by OCT before and 4 months after surgery, closure of macular hole, change in best corrected visual acuity (measured in 5 metres) from preoperative to 4 months postoperative, morphological changes within the layer of photoreceptors—
