Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Victims of institutional violence and sexual abuse, which have contacted the Victim Protection Commission in Lower Austria and who consent to participate in the research project. (Age: 18+)

Exclusion criteria: Age: younger than 18

MeasureTime frame
Several standardized questionnaires are carried out to investigate the correlation between suffered traumatization and the psychological consequences. In addition, qualitative in-depth interviews are conducted and further information is obtained through analyzing the data available to the Victim Protection Commission of the victims. Measures: 1. SCID I+II – Structured Clinical Interview for DMS-IV (mental and personality disorders) 2./3. Two questionnaires were designed to elicit information concerning disclosure and social reaction to disclosure, as well as social support 4. PCL-C - Posttraumatic Stress Disorder Checklist - Civilian Version 5. DTQ - Disclosure of Trauma Questionnaire 6. CD-Risc - Connor Davidson Resilience Scale 7. BSI - Brief Symptom Inventory 8. CISS - Coping Inventory for Stressful Situations 9. LOT-R – Life Orientation Test

Victims claims and needs; Correlation with type of trauma? Is there evidence for the need/request for justice or revenge? Is there evidence for gender differences in needs/requests? Differences and relations to the population of victims in the Catholic Church; Questions concerning the Victim Protection Commission (processing time, quality, reachability); Goal: creating guidelines to initiate special institutions like the Lower Austrian’s Victim Protection Commission.
