Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: at least 3rd depressional episode in life during depression treatment, stay in a recruiting centre internet access

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Acute risk for suicide assessed according to clinical practice guidelines A history of psychotic symptoms, bipolar disorder, or organic brain disorders A primary diagnosis of another SCID Axis I disorder incl. anxiety disorders, or any severe substance-related abuse or dependence disorder, antisocial, schizotypal, or borderline personality disorder A serious medical condition Severe cognitive impairment Insufficient knowledge of the German language Illiteracy

Design outcomes

Primary

MeasureTime frame
Transition rates between "well" and "unwell" weeks, assessed by Longitudinal Interval Follow Up Evaluation (LIFE) which will be applied at months 6, 12, 18 and 24 to cover the recent period.

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
Relapse rate during observation period. Cure rate during observation period. Number of well weeks. Bi-weekly state according to PHQ-9 total score Inpatient status during observation period. Cros-sectional symptom severity according to Beck's Depression Inventory 12 months after randomisation. Quality of Life accoring to EuroQol 12 months after randomisation.
