Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: All patients admitted to one of the 2 internal Emergency Departments between 15th February 2009 and 15th February 2010. Patients of full age Inclusion Criteria for the telephone follow-up at 6 months after admission: written informed consent signed at admission to the Emergency Department

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Exclusion Criteria for the telephone follow-up at 6 months after admission: Detention by law

Design outcomes

Primary

MeasureTime frame
Final discharge diagnosis related to pre-defined cardinal symptoms. The final discharge diagnosis of each patient will be exported from the hospital information system after the predefined study period has ended. For each patient with one of the predefined cardinal symptoms the discharge diagnosis will be matched and for each symptoms the different diagnoses will be quantified.

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
The frequency of cardinal symptoms in certain pre-defined diagnoses. Common diagnoses in emergency medicine will be evaluated for their underlying symptoms. All data will be expoted from the hospital information system as in the primary endpoint.
