Group 1: Geriatric Assessment on the day before cardiac surgery

70 Years to No maximum

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Geriatric patients defined as 1. Age > 70 years with 2 or more chronic diseases or 2. Age > 80 years 3. Elective or urgent cardiac surgery with sternotomy

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Emergency operations Unstable patients (dyspnoe or angina at rest, cardiogenic shock) Patients on mechanical ventilation Inability to give informed consent
