Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: All non-artificially respirated and artificially respirated patients immediately, older 18 years and a stay post surgically on the intensive care unit Consciousness position: RASS from-3 to +4

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Patients less than 18 years; patients with a delirium before operation; patients with dementia; neurological or neurosurgery illnesses with cognitive dysfunction; patients with illnesses psychotic chronically or urgently; patients in the terminal stage with cancer illnesses as well as with AIDS; delirium with alcohol or drugs; patients they do not understand the German language; patients they are very very partially sighted or partially deaf.

Study phase 1: Capture of the post surgical hypo- or hyperactive delirium (ICD-10 F05-Delir) with non-respirated and respirated intensive patients with the "Confusion Assessment Method for the Intensive Care Unit" (CAM-ICU) in a time window of two hours in the morning of 9-11 a.m. as well as in the evening of 8-10 p.m. .Capture of the simultaneous medical delirium diagnosis as well as the subjective appraisal of the nursing staff by questioning. Study phase 2: Capture of the fasibility and user-friendliness of the CAM-ICU by written employee's questioning and complementary focus groups interview—
