Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1. Cases were obtained from a participating center during the prespecified study period. 2. A final diagnosis of renal cell carcinoma was established through pathological reassessment. 3. At least one analyzable hematoxylin-and-eosin-stained whole-slide image from a renal needle-biopsy specimen was available. 4. A definitive reference classification as clear cell or non-clear cell renal cell carcinoma was available.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1. No renal needle-biopsy specimen was available. 2. The biopsy specimen or whole-slide image was unsuitable for analysis because of insufficient tissue, severe artifacts, poor staining quality, or other technical limitations. 3. A definitive reference classification as clear cell or non-clear cell renal cell carcinoma could not be established through pathological reassessment.
