12 Years to 70 Years

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1) Age 12–70 years, meeting the diagnostic criteria for AACE (acute acquired comitant esotropia) with a disease duration of more than 6 months; 2) Distance esodeviation >15 prism diopters measured by PACT, with a difference in angle of deviation among various diagnostic positions of gaze <=5 prism diopters; 3) Able to cooperate preoperatively with all three measurement methods: PACT, BORP, and fusional vergence range assessment; 4) No evidence of neurological pathology as confirmed by cranial imaging and neurological consultation.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1) Unresolved amblyopia, nystagmus, and other ocular diseases; 2) Previous strabismus surgery or botulinum toxin injection for strabismus; 3) Presence of vertical strabismus, A-V pattern strabismus, paralytic or restrictive strabismus; 4) History of systemic diseases such as diabetes mellitus, myasthenia gravis, and thyroid dysfunction; 5) Inability to comply with follow-up visits.
