60 Years to 95 Years
Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: 1.Presence of visual impairment assessed by a professional ophthalmologist. 2.Age >= 60 years. 3.Mini-Mental State Examination (MMSE) score < 27. 4.Clear consciousness and normal expressive ability, capable of verbal and written communication. 5.Willingness to participate and signed informed consent.
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: 1.Other major neurological or psychiatric disorders, such as dementia; severe depression or anxiety; autoimmune diseases; major organ failure; or life-threatening illnesses with a prognosis of < 6 months. 2.Olfactory dysfunction, auditory dysfunction, bronchial asthma, or other respiratory diseases. 3.Use of medications affecting cognitive function, e.g., long-term use of cholinesterase inhibitors. 4.Acute inflammatory diseases, acute brain injury, or acute stroke (within 3 months). 5.Inability to undergo clinical examinations, such as neuropsychological tests. 6.Severe alcohol or drug abuse. 7.Participation in other clinical trials within the last 3 months or current enrolment in other trials. 8.Positive result on a lavender essential oil allergy test, or subjective aversion to the scent of aromatic essential oils.
