Diagnostic criteria for PNS include: (1) Massive proteinuria: 24-hour urinary protein excretion >=50 mg/kg, or a urine protein-to-creatinine ratio (mg/mg) >=2.0 in morning urine samples, with qualitative urinalysis showing (+++ to +++) on three consecutive morning specimens; (2) Hypoalbuminemia: serum albumin level below 25 g/L; (3) Hyperlipidemia: serum cholesterol exceeding 5.7 mmol/L; (4) Varying degrees of edema. Criteria (1) and (2) are mandatory for diagnosis (Chinese Journal of Pediatrics 2017 55(10):738-742. Pediatr Nephrol. 2023 Mar 38(3):877-919). 2.
