Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: 1.Scheduled for elective major abdominal surgery under general anesthesia. 2.Patients aged 65 years or older; 3.American Society of Anesthesiologists (ASA) physical status I–III. 4.Expected surgical duration >=1 hour. 5.Written informed consent obtained.
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: 1.Emergency surgery, day-case surgery, cardiac surgery, or neurosurgery. 2.Poorly controlled diabetes mellitus, defined as glycated hemoglobin (HbA1c) >9.0%. 3.History of neurological or psychiatric disorders, or long-term use of sedative, antidepressant, or hypnotic medications. 4.Preoperative cognitive impairment,or inability to complete cognitive assessment due to hearing impairment, language barriers, or other reasons. 5.Systemic glucocorticoid use within 3 months before enrollment; surgery within 3 months before enrollment; or history of peptic ulcer disease. 6.History of alcohol or drug abuse. 7.Pregnancy or breastfeeding. 8.BMI > 28.0 kg/m^². 9.Any condition judged by the investigators to make the patient unsuitable for participation.
