Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: A 74-year-old female patient presented with acute stroke-like symptoms (dysarthria and right limb weakness) as the initial manifestation. She had a history of atrial fibrillation, hypertension and cerebral infarction. Intravenous thrombolysis was administered in the hyperacute phase. Subsequent treatment for cerebrovascular disease yielded unsatisfactory outcomes. Cranial MRI failed to identify responsible lesions, which was inconsistent with the severe neurological deficits. After re-evaluating the etiology, repeated imaging examinations, further cerebrospinal fluid testing and electroencephalography monitoring confirmed anti-GAD antibody-associated encephalitis.
