Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Inclusion criteria for the research group: 1. Patients aged 3–80 years diagnosed with epilepsy according to the diagnostic criteria of the International League Against Epilepsy (ILAE) for different types of epilepsy; 2.or patients diagnosed with different types of headache according to the International Classification of Headache Disorders, 3rd edition (ICHD-3); 3.and the diagnosis must be confirmed by at least two neurologists. Availability of at least 10 minutes of complete awake EEG data. Inclusion criteria for the control group: 1. Age 3-80 years, without epilepsy, headache, or other neurological diseases; 2. At least 10 minutes of complete EEG data during both wakefulness and sleep; 3. Not taking any antiepileptic or neurological medications.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Study Group Exclusion Criteria: 1. Concurrent other neurological disorders and developmental disorders; 2. Presence of severe systemic diseases (e.g., cardiopulmonary diseases, liver or renal insufficiency, metabolic diseases, etc.); 3. Presence of major psychiatric disorders or intellectual disability; 4. Poor EEG signal quality or insufficient duration; 5. Other systemic diseases that may affect EEG results; 6. History of alcohol or drug addiction or abuse. Control Group Exclusion Criteria: 1. Meeting any of the exclusion criteria 1–6 listed for the study group; 2. History of epilepsy or epileptic seizures, or history of febrile seizures; 3. Loss of consciousness lasting more than 5 minutes; 4. Presence of epileptiform discharges or epileptic waveforms on EEG examination.
