Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: 1.Aged 18–65, no gender restrictions; 2.Newly diagnosed with moderate active ulcerative colitis (according to the modified Truelove and Witts criteria: 4–6 bowel movements per day, body temperature =37.8°C, pulse rate =90 beats per minute, haemoglobin =10.5 g/dL, C-reactive protein =30 mg/L), with lesions extending more than 15 cm from the anus; 3.Have not previously used 5-ASA, or have used an insufficient dose of 5-ASA (<4 g/day); 4.The patient agreed to participate in the study and signed the informed consent form;
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: 1.A history of treatment with steroids, immunomodulators, biologics or surgery for UC; 2.Rectal ulcerative colitis, Crohn’s disease, haemorrhagic disorders, active peptic ulcers, asthma and known hypersensitivity to 5-ASA, a history of colon surgery, pregnancy, concomitant organ failure outside the gastrointestinal tract, neoplasms, and rheumatic and autoimmune diseases, etc.
