Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: 1. Case Group: (1) Underwent posterior approach vitrectomy combined with air-fluid exchange at our hospital. (2) Clinically diagnosed with acute air embolism during surgery (based on the diagnostic criteria in this case: sudden drop in PetCO2, difficult-to-correct hypotension, newly appeared ECG changes, and confirmation of intracardiac gas bubbles via echocardiography). (3) Complete medical records. 2. Control Group: (1) Underwent posterior approach vitrectomy combined with air-fluid exchange at our hospital. (2) Clearly did not experience air embolism during or after surgery. (3) Successfully matched with the case group patients in age, gender, and primary diagnosis.
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: 1. Known heart conditions with right-to-left shunting before surgery (like patent foramen ovale or atrial septal defect). 2. Severe respiratory and circulatory failure before surgery that requires high doses of vasoactive drugs to maintain. 3. Key data missing from medical records (like intraoperative vital signs, surgery notes, blood gas analysis results, etc.).
