Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: 1.The inclusion criteria for the case group are as follows: (1) Aged 18–60 years (inclusive), with no restriction on sex; (2) Complete periodontal examination records available, including full-mouth periodontal charting, panoramic radiography, and documented history of periodontal treatment; (3) Diagnosed with periodontitis of stage II or higher, according to the 2018 International Classification of Periodontal and Peri-Implant Diseases and Conditions; (4) Written informed consent obtained from the patient. 2.The inclusion criteria for the control group are as follows: (1) Aged 18–60 years (inclusive), with no restriction on sex; (2) Diagnosed by a periodontal specialist as having a healthy periodontium: absence of clinical signs of inflammation, no history of periodontal tissue destruction, and no evident local or systemic risk factors affecting periodontal health; (3) Matched to the case group for age and sex.
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: (1) Attachment loss attributable to non-periodontal causes, including traumatic gingival recession, cervical caries, distal attachment loss of the second molar associated with an impacted or extracted third molar, periapical lesions draining via the periodontal pocket, and root fractures; (2) Periodontal or orthodontic treatment received within the preceding 3 months; (3) Oral trauma or tooth extraction within the past 2 weeks; (4) Current use of medications known to affect platelet function or periodontal status; (5) Pregnancy, lactation, or presence of systemic conditions, including but not limited to hematologic disorders, diabetes mellitus, renal disease, hepatic disease, cardiovascular disease, and neutropenia; (6) Individuals with HIV infection or active hepatitis B virus (HBV) or hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection.
