Conditions

Patients diagnosed with critical neurosurgical conditions or admitted to the neurosurgical intensive care unit (ICU) for treatment may experience nutritional intolerance symptoms such as abdominal distension, vomiting, diarrhea, or gastric stasis when receiving enteral nutrition.

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1.Aged >= 18 years. 2.Patients with severe neurological conditions: patients admitted to the NCU after assessment by an intensive care physician, who present with conditions such as stroke, encephalitis, or meningitis, cranial trauma, spinal cord or neuromuscular diseases, brainrelated multi-organ dysfunction, or require specialized specialist treatment, accompanied by increased intracranial pressure, coma, impaired consciousness, status epilepticus, or respiratory failure. 3.During this NCU hospitalisation, a nasogastric tube or nasojejunal tube was inserted for the first time, and no nasogastric tube or nasojejunal tube had been used prior to admission to the NCU; 4.Enteral feeding initiated within 24-48 h of admission; 5.Nasal feeding continued for >= 7 days.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1.Severely impaired gastrointestinal function; 2.Gastrointestinal perforation and upper gastrointestinal obstruction are present; 3.Pregnant women or women in the perinatal period; 4.Patients with extremely unstable hemodynamics.
