Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1. Male, aged 18–25 years; 2. National Class II athlete standard for 100 m sprint; 3. At least 3 years of systematic sprint training experience; 4. Capable of completing maximal-effort 60 m sprint, vertical jump and cycle ergometer tests at present; 5. Voluntary participation and compliance with all laboratory visits and experimental control protocols.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1. Known caffeine allergy, or previous adverse reactions such as obvious palpitations, chest pain, syncope, severe anxiety after caffeine ingestion; 2. Suffering from cardiovascular, nervous, metabolic diseases or other illnesses unsuitable for maximal-intensity exercise; 3. Lower extremity injuries interfering with all-out sprint within the past 3 months, or pain, fever, infection and other acute discomfort prior to trials; 4. Taking medications that may affect neuromuscular, cardiovascular function or caffeine metabolism; 5. Failure to comply with requirements for caffeine withdrawal, diet, training and sleep schedule control.
