Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1. Aged >=18 years; 2. Underwent elective video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery (VATS) or robotic-assisted thoracoscopic surgery (R-VATS); 3. Complete perioperative clinical data were available; 4. Pain intensity scores were recorded within 48 hours postoperatively.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1. intraoperative conversion to thoracotomy; 2. concomitant additional surgical procedures; 3. pre-existing chronic pain or long-term use of analgesic medications; 4. severe psychiatric illness or cognitive impairment that precluded accurate pain assessment; 5. emergency or palliative surgery; 6. occurrence of severe complications within 48 hours postoperatively, such as admission to the intensive care unit or reoperation; 7. cases with a missing rate of key variables exceeding 5%.
