Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1.HHV-7 meningoencephalitis group: (1)Patients meeting the diagnostic criteria for aseptic meningitis, or the consensus statement issued by the International Encephalitis Alliance; (2)HHV-7 nucleic acid detected positive by CSF PCR, or HHV-7 identified via CSF NGS; (3)14 years<=age<=85 years, with no restriction on gender; (4)Complete medical records available. 2.HSV meningoencephalitis group: (1)Patients meeting the diagnostic criteria for aseptic meningitis, or the consensus statement issued by the International Encephalitis Alliance; (2)HSV nucleic acid detected positive by CSF PCR, or HSV identified via CSF NGS; (3)14 years<=age<=85 years, with no restriction on gender; (4)Complete medical records available.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1.HHV-7 nucleic acid was negative on CSF PCR, or neither HHV-7 nor HSV was detected by CSF NGS; 2.Meningoencephalitis caused by other pathogens, including viruses, bacteria and fungi; 3.Contraindications for magnetic resonance imaging (MRI); 4.Incomplete medical records or missing follow-up data.
