Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1.Age =18 years; 2.Confirmed diagnosis of COPD, currently experiencing an acute exacerbation (AECOPD); 3.Blood and sputum samples can be collected within 24 hours of hospital admission or emergency department presentation; 4.Signed informed consent form;

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1.Severe hepatic or renal impairment; 2.Active malignancy or ongoing radiotherapy/chemotherapy; 3.Pregnancy or lactation; 4.Use of high-dose immunosuppressants or systemic glucocorticoids within the past month; 5.Symptoms caused by acute non-COPD conditions (e.g., acute left heart failure, pulmonary embolism); 6.Inability to collect a sample or an unsuitable sample;
