Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Inclusion criterion for young participants: age between 25 and 40 years. Inclusion criteria for older participants: age >=60 years and the ability to walk independently without assistive devices.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Exclusion criteria for young participants: majoring in physical education or sports-related disciplines, as such individuals are considered to differ from typical participants; the presence of lower-limb neurological, musculoskeletal, or vascular dysfunction; or any other pathological condition that prevents sufficient activation of the leg muscles under voluntary or electrical stimulation conditions. Exclusion criteria for older participants: 1. Self-reporting of central nervous system dysfunction, uncontrolled cardiovascular diseases, lower limb neuromuscular dysfunction, visual impairment, dizziness, vertigo, other vestibular disorders or psychological problems related to falls (such as fear of falling, anxiety or depression); 2. Plantar ulcers; 3. Mini-Mental State Examination (MMSE) score < 24 points; 4. Presence of other pathological conditions that prevent adequate activation of leg muscles under voluntary or electrical stimulation conditions. Additionally, all participants have not used any muscle relaxants in the past 6 months.
