Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: 1. Patients with thyroid carcinoma who underwent unilateral lobectomy or total thyroidectomy under general anesthesia with tracheal intubation; 2. Aged 18 to 70 years old; 3. American Society of Anesthesiologists (ASA) physical status classification grade ?–?.
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: 1. Patients with preexisting sore throat or pharyngitis before surgery; 2. Patients with upper respiratory tract infection within the previous 2 weeks; 3. Patients diagnosed with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD); 4. Pregnant patients; 5. Patients with allergy or contraindications to the study drug; 6. Difficult airway with Mallampati classification grade > 2; 7. Patients with a history of oral, nasal or head and neck surgery; 8. Patients undergoing lateral cervical lymph node dissection (levels II-V); 9. Patients requiring more than one intubation attempt, or those experiencing surgical or anesthetic complications intraoperatively or postoperatively; 10. Patients with tracheal invasion by tumor requiring combined tracheal resection; 11. Patients with intraoperative recurrent laryngeal nerve invasion or injury by tumor.
