Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: Part 1: Patients who developed surgical site infection (SSI) following orthopedic surgery at our hospital between January 1, 2019 and December 31, 2025. SSI diagnosis conformed to the CDC/NHSN criteria of the United States. Part 2: All patients receiving orthopedic surgery during the identical study period. The infection group included patients complicated with postoperative SSI; The control group comprised patients who underwent the same type of surgery in the same department over the same period without SSI.
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: Part 1: Patients with pre-existing infection before surgery, those who died within 48 hours after operation, and patients with non-surgical site infections. Part 2: Patients with missing hospitalization cost data and those with a length of hospital stay less than 1 day.
