Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1. Age 18 years or older. 2. Underwent tooth extraction at our hospital. 3. Single or multiple missing teeth in the maxillary anterior region, with an edentulous period of >=3 months prior to receiving bone-level dental implant placement. 4. Presence of a buccal bone defect after implant placement, managed with simultaneous guided bone regeneration (GBR). 5. Complete and accurate CBCT data required for the study (i.e., pre-extraction, pre-operative, immediate post-operative, healing phase, and follow-up phase) to facilitate measurement and evaluation.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1. Immediate or early implant placement. 2. Previous ridge preservation procedure at the implant site. ( The implant site had previously undergone alveolar ridge preservation.) 3. Concomitant with other bone defects (e.g., lingual bone defect). 4. Underwent additional bone augmentation procedures (e.g., alveolar ridge splitting, onlay bone grafting, or tenting screw technique). 5. Pre-extraction CT scan showing progressive periodontal or periapical disease of the involved tooth, resulting in the absence of the buccal bone plate.
