Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: 1.Meet the diagnostic criteria for Major Depressive Disorder (MDD) specified in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, Fifth Edition (DSM-5); 2.Moderate to severe depression is defined as a total score greater than 17 on the 17-item Hamilton Depression Rating Scale (HAMD). 3.No psychoactive drugs have been taken in the past month, or the drug has been taken at a continuously stable dose for more than 1 month with unsatisfactory therapeutic efficacy. 4.Agree to maintain the dose and type of psychotropic medications unchanged throughout the study duration.
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: 1.With explicit suicidal ideation, the score of suicide item in the Hamilton Depression Rating Scale (HAMD) is >=3. 2.History of mental disorders other than depression or anxiety disorders. 3.Drug dependence/abuse within the past 6 months. 4.Serious or unstable medical conditions. 5.Neurological disorders such as epilepsy; mental retardation. 6.Has received transcranial magnetic stimulation or other neuromodulation treatments within the past six months. 7.The patient is currently undergoing psychotherapy. 8.Gestation or lactation. 9.Contraindications for EEG or MRI examinations. 10.Contraindications for tACS Therapy. 11.Currently enrolled in other clinical therapeutic research studies.
