Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: 1. Patients who have been pathologically diagnosed with rectal adenocarcinoma, with the lower edge of the tumor =5 cm from the anus; 2. Successfully underwent laparoscopic low anterior resection for rectal cancer while preserving the anus; 3. Aged 18–75 years, with an ECOG score of 0–1; 4. No preoperative bowel dysfunction or history of anal incontinence; 5. Clinical and follow-up data are complete.
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: 1. Tumor has spread to distant areas or there are other malignant tumors; 2. Major organ dysfunction, unable to tolerate surgery; 3. History of previous pelvic surgery that might affect bowel function assessment; 4. Switching to non-sphincter-preserving surgery during operation; 5. Key data is missing, making statistical analysis impossible.
