Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: 1.Patients who were treated at the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at Shanghai Ninth People’s Hospital between November 2020 and March 2026 and presented with symptoms such as recurrent swelling and pain in the mandible and limited mouth opening, which did not fully resolve with antibiotic therapy, with or without other systemic symptoms such as bone pain, skin lesions, or fever; 2.Maxillofacial CT and MRI: Sclerosis/osteolytic lesions/periosteal reaction/osteophytes/bone expansion, with indistinct borders; 3.Laboratory tests: In patients with normal white blood cell counts, levels of pro-inflammatory cytokines, erythrocyte sedimentation rate, and C-reactive protein may be elevated; 4.The biopsy pathology revealed chronic osteomyelitis; bacterial cultures did not identify any significant pathogens; 5.Follow-up period of >=1.5 years;
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: 1.Patients with a history of chemotherapy or radiation therapy, or a history of treatment with antiresorptive or anti-angiogenic agents; 2.There is conclusive evidence indicating the existence of mutually exclusive conditions with similar symptoms; 3.Patients who achieved complete and sustained clinical and laboratory remission following antimicrobial therapy alone; 4.CT scans showing clear evidence of a dental infection focus;
