Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1. At least 18 years old; 2. Eligible for early (laparoscopic)* cholecystectomy; 3. Full required diagnostic work-up of patient has been performed, including EUS; 4. First, second or third episode of IAP, in which at least one episode characterized by a negative EUS result has been reported; 5. Informed consent for participation was obtained;

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1. Patients with more than 3 episodes of idiopathic acute pancreatitis; 2. Diagnosis of chronic pancreatitis; 3. Diagnosis of necrotizing pancreatitis; 4. Current pancreatic malignancy or main-duct IPMN; 5. Prior cholecystectomy; 6. Documented etiology of acute pancreatitis; 7. Patients in whom complete diagnostic work-up including EUS is not possible (e.g. Roux-and-Y bypass); 8. History of pancreas divisum# #Imaging to rule out pancreas divisum not required; 9. Pregnant or breastfeeding.
