Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: Inclusion criteria: participants were eligible for inclusion if they were between 18 and 65 years of age and were colorectal cancer patients with stage I to III disease. All participants were required to be at least 10 weeks post-operative from any cancer-related surgical procedure and to exhibit clinically meaningful depressive symptoms, defined by a PHQ-9 score greater than 10. Only individuals who were able to ambulate independently without assistance and who had normal or corrected-to-normal vision and adequate hearing were considered. Eligible participants also needed to express a clear willingness to engage in the full 12-week intervention and follow-up assessments. Finally, enrollment was limited to those who, according to the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) pre-exercise screening questionnaire, had no contraindications to participating in structured exercise
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: Parastomal hernias with a bulge and other colostomy-related complications; Recurrent or metastatic cancer with terminal or serious stages (stage IV), like disoriented, comatose, unconscious, or bedridden; Other cancers combined with or without colorectal cancer; Any known major psychiatric/serious mental disorders (schizophrenia, psychosis, bipolar disorders, drug or substance abuse, etc.); Already using or have used antidepressants and/or/and any known psychiatric medications in the past three months; Inability to perform physical activity due to a major medical condition/ severe comorbidity like (heart failure, COPD, CVA, Orthopedic and balance disorders, etc.); Severe cognitive impairment like dementia, delirium, etc.; Currently participating or participated in the last three months in any mindfulness or resistance band-related physical exercises or both.
