Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: SLE Group: 1. Patients classified as having SLE according to the 2019 EULAR/ACR classification criteria; 2. Voluntarily participate in this study and have signed the informed consent form; 3. Aged 18–50 years; 4. Determined to be right-handed according to the Edinburgh Handedness Inventory. Healthy Control Group: 1. In good health; 2. Age and gender matched with the patient group; 3. Voluntarily participate in this study and have signed the informed consent form; 4. Aged 18–50 years; 5. Determined to be right-handed according to the Edinburgh Handedness Inventory.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: SLE Group: 1. People with other autoimmune diseases; 2. People with serious conditions that could cause brain atrophy, like a history of high blood pressure, diabetes, stroke, or kidney dysfunction; 3. People with a history of serious head trauma or surgery; 4. People showing severe active psychiatric symptoms like serious behavioral disorders or consciousness disturbances; 5. People with a history of drug abuse, heavy drinking, or substance use; 6. People who use psychoactive drugs; people who have claustrophobia, metal implants, or other MRI contraindications; 7. Pregnant or breastfeeding women. Healthy Control Group: 1. People with a clear past or current history of physical illness, neurological or psychiatric disorders (psychiatric symptoms screened by an experienced psychiatrist using the structured clinical interview for DSM-IV, non-patient edition), immune system diseases, or family history; 2. People with a history of drug abuse, heavy drinking, or substance use; 3. People with a history of head trauma or surgery; 4. Pregnant or breastfeeding women; 5. People who have claustrophobia, metal implants, or other MRI contraindications.
