Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: 1. Aged 60 years and older; 2. Diagnosed with MCI according to the Petersen criteria (Petersen, 2004), including self/informant-reported memory complaints, objective cognitive decline (Montreal Cognitive Assessment score thresholds adjusted by education level: = 12 years) (Nasreddine et al., 2005; Sun et al., 2023)), preserved daily functioning (Lawton Brody ADL 17 (no education), > 20 (1-6 years), > 24 (>= 7 years)); 3. No significant hearing impairments or severe sensory deficits; 4. Able to participate in MEAI program sessions (confirmed by caregivers); 5. No substance abuse (e.g., alcoholism, drug abuse).
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: 1. Physician-diagnosed dementia or mental illness; 2. History of severe psychiatric disorders (e.g., schizophrenia, bipolar disorder); 3. Unstable cardiovascular conditions that may impact participation; 4. Recent participation in other behavioral therapies; 5. History of epilepsy, due to the risk of music-induced seizures; 6. Insufficient visual or auditory acuity for neuropsychological testing.
