Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1. Age > 18 years; 2. Diagnosed with severe burns (TBSA > 20% in adults, TBSA > 10% in elderly individuals); 3. Admitted to hospital within 48 hours post-injury; 4. Expected survival > 72 hours;

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1. Presence of chronic gastrointestinal diseases or chronic musculoskeletal diseases prior to admission; 2. Long-term (>1 month) use of probiotics, antibiotics, or immunosuppressants; 3. Pregnant or breastfeeding women; 4. History of psychiatric illness or cognitive impairment that prevents cooperation; 5. Other conditions deemed by the investigator to make participation unsuitable (e.g., extremely critical condition preventing any sample collection).
