Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1. Patients who underwent mitral valve surgery at the Department of Cardiovascular Surgery of Tongji Hospital Affiliated to Huazhong University of Science and Technology from January 1, 2005 to December 31, 2025. 2. Preoperative echocardiography confirmed functional mitral regurgitation, and the clinical manifestations and ultrasound features met the diagnostic criteria for atrial functional mitral regurgitation. 3. The surgical records confirmed that mitral valve repair surgery was performed, including but not limited to artificial valve ring formation, and atrial fibrillation maze ablation, left atrial appendage resection, and tricuspid valve formation could be performed concurrently. 4. Complete medical records were available, including preoperative baseline data, surgical records, at least one preoperative, one early postoperative, and one long-term echocardiography report.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1. Organic mitral valve lesion: Abnormalities in the valve structure caused by rheumatic heart disease, infectious endocarditis, mitral valve prolapse, Barlow syndrome, congenital malformations, etc. 2. Ventricular functional mitral regurgitation: Left ventricular enlargement, systolic dysfunction or segmental ventricular wall motion abnormalities caused by ischemic heart disease, dilated cardiomyopathy, etc. 3. Previous history of mitral valve surgery. 4. Concurrently undergoing other major cardiac surgeries such as aortic valve replacement/repair, coronary artery bypass grafting, ventricular reconstruction, ascending aorta replacement, etc. 5. Critical data is severely lacking and cannot be used for analysis.
