Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1. Aged 18–80 years; 2. Diagnosed with T2DM for at least 6 months. Diabetes can be diagnosed based on any of the following criteria: HbA1c >= 6.5% (>=48 mmol/mol); FPG >=126 mg/dL (>=7.0 mmol/L); 2-hour plasma glucose >=200 mg/dL (>=11.1 mmol/L) during an OGTT; or random plasma glucose >=200 mg/dL (>=11.1 mmol/L) in individuals with classic symptoms of hyperglycemia or hyperglycemic crisis (Diagnosis and Classification of Diabetes: Standards of Care in Diabetes—2025); 3. Have recently undergone carotid artery ultrasound examination; 4. Be capable of cooperating to complete questionnaire surveys, laboratory tests and follow-up visits; 5. Voluntarily sign the informed consent form.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1. Severe liver and kidney dysfunction (such as liver cirrhosis, renal failure) or malignant tumors; 2. Pregnant women; 3. Acute myocardial infarction, cerebral infarction and other acute cardiovascular and cerebrovascular events have occurred within the past 6 months; 4. No stable use of lipid-regulating drugs (statins, fibrates) within the past three months; 5. Severe infections, autoimmune diseases, and blood system diseases; 6. Mental illness or cognitive dysfunction makes it impossible to cooperate with follow-up. 7. Contraindications for imaging examinations (such as the presence of metal implants in the body making MRI impossible).
