Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: 1.Age >= 65 years. 2.Scheduled to undergo elective major abdominal surgery (defined as an expected surgical duration>= 2 hours, and/or an expected postoperative hospital stay >= 5 days, e.g., radical resection of colorectal cancer, radical gastrectomy, partial hepatectomy, pancreaticoduodenectomy, etc.). 3.American Society of Anesthesiologists (ASA) physical status classification of I–III. 4.Preoperatively able to independently complete the "usual pace" test and the "timed up and go" test without assistance from others. 5.Voluntarily participate and sign the informed consent form.
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: 1.Presence of neurological diseases (e.g., severe hemiplegia after stroke, Parkinson's disease Hoehn & Yahr stage>= 3, severe peripheral neuropathy) or musculoskeletal diseases (e.g., severe arthritis, unhealed bone fractures, lower limb amputation) that severely affect walking ability. 2.Presence of severe visual impairment or vestibular dysfunction affecting balance and walking. 3.Emergency surgery. 4.Expected survival period < 3 months (e.g., patients with widely metastatic advanced tumors). 5.Presence of cognitive dysfunction (e.g., Mini-Mental State Examination score below the threshold corresponding to education level) or mental illness, making it unable to cooperate with gait testing and postoperative questionnaire assessment.
